  • GOP Congressional Leadership turns its back on Sandy Victims
    Updated On: Jan 04, 2013

Last night House Republican Leadership turned its back on millions of Americans impacted by Superstorm Sandy by failing to put the Senate supplemental bill up for a vote.

"The failure of House Republican Leadership to put the Sandy Supplemental to a vote is politics at its worst.  The people impacted by Superstorm Sandyare not Democrats or Republicans - they are Americans, and they need the federal government's help.  We will not let up in our fight until all those impacted by Sandy receive the aid they need." - Mario Cilento President NYS AFL-CIO

Sign our petition now because time is running out. Congress must act immediately to pass these critical funds.

The New York Congressional Delegation is united in demanding that the Hurricane victims be treated with respect by Republican Congressional Leaders.

Republican Representatives Peter T. King of Long Island and Michael G. Grimm have called the act  “disgraceful" and Democratic Representative Jerrold Nadler, referred to it as the “most disgraceful act” he had seen in his 20 years in the House.[1]

Sign our petition now to Speaker Boehner and the congressional Leadership to respect the victims of Hurricane Sandy and bring theSandy Relief Funds bill to a vote NOW!

The Labor Movement will not be deterred by this epic failure of leadership; we will not rest until New York receives the aid it so desperately needs.
